I've been working on a few other sticks as well as the derby stick I just finished for the "How I Build A Cane" thread.
First up is a market stick I just completed.
I did more of a dropped point on this one and am really pleased with how it turned out.
The next two I'm keeping. They're both cardigan sticks. The first one is from the same log as the market stick and derby stick.
I love the wood in the handle. I think this might be my new favorite stick.
This one has some really nice quilted maple in the handle. The spacers are Catalpa. I'm not quite as happy with this one. One of those ideas that didn't quite work out but still a fun stick. I think I made the handle out of proportion to the shank. Frankly I would probably be happier if I tossed the shank and put the handle on a different one that's a little heavier.
The red in the pictures is smoke in the air from all the wild fires we've been having this summer.
Thanks for looking,
Rodney
