IF all goes as planned this will be Cane #39 for 2015 and #89 since this trek began, June 2013. I decided a bit ago to post here/now the progress pics and to hopefully add more each day this week.

We shall see what we shall see, eh?

ps - I hope you have a marvelous Monday.

Years ago my brother-in-law was a welder and made stuff at the "shop" - so Bud and I had this little my-hobby-is-better-than-your-hobby contest going. One of my "arguments" was when finished I was covered with sawdust and he was covered with welding soot and grime, etc. It was great fun.

We were visiting one time and I noticed a new set of wrought iron fireplace tools setting in place. Figuring he had made them I asked, and sure enough he had. After I looked them over and complimented him, he said, "Try making those outta wood."

He had me.

Temporarily.

Here's the sanding-my-eyes-out Day #2 results

A lot more sanding to go, then the handle/knob installed, and first of 3-4 coats Formsby's Tung oil.

Hope to get it done by Dec 31 - the final cane of 2015.

It's been a good year and I am thankful.

Coat #2 - Formsby's Tung Oil - is drying today in the "kiln" (Laundry Room) IF all goes as planned it should be done/ready for use tomorrow - yippee! I will then put everything away until next year.

It may not be one of your favorites but I think it has a lot going for it. Nice color and texture and it's nice and straight from top to bottom so it will be a good sturdy stick.

Whoever ends up with it will be quite pleased I think.
