Blade protection.
I try to keep my carving knives in a safe place while having easy access to them and also protecting the cutting edge from dings. This has worked well for me. I cut a small scrap of leather that will fold over the cutting edge. Then place it in a Binder clip. This hold the blades and keeps tool from rolling around on a table.

Whittled this eagle after watching a video on YouTube and made a blade guard out of it - the knife is one I made from a Kutzall reciprocating saw blade (a good source)
