I am woefully behind in my Christmas carving. I have been doing a big craft show Thanksgiving weekend the last several years, unfortunately that is not going to happen. Normally I bring a dozen or so walking sticks with me and a 20-30 ornaments, the ornaments are the big seller. I have a tree to display them on, they get people looking at my work and have led to some sales of walking sticks or other commissions as well.
I usually start carving ornaments in late August to get a jump on the season. This year we had too many family obligations (weddings) so the ornaments fell by the wayside.
I did get a request (ORDERS) for some ornaments that I have to get done! Here are a few Butternut Santa ornaments that are destined to be added to the Christmas gift bags of the wife's bunco club girls. They are made from a 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 4" block. I will finish them with natural Danish oil and a cpl coats of satin poly. 3 down & 4 to go with 3 weeks left to finish!!!
Thanks for lookin'
