I found/rescued this branch from the bottom of a brush pile alongside a 2-lane road one day this past summer. Once in hand I gave it my usual "test" by jabbing it into the ground. Unfortunately the rotted end broke off. However, because of the dramatic/distinctive markings and features along the shank I decided it was worth bringing home.
An oak branch was added to replace the broken tip.
