If you are new to carving of any kind You may want to look into this site. Chris Pye is a world class carver in England and offers ,what I think, are the best instructional videos out there. It is $10.99 a month I think that is about 8.50 pounds in the UK..That is month by month. no long term obligation. There is a beginners group of videos. videos on tools, sharpening. how to use the tools. He covers different ways of holding your work. There are videos on relief carving ,carving in the round and lettering. a large selection of simple to complex project which he take you though step by step.There are sample videos on to watch when you go to the site. I have been carving for a while and I have spent a lot of money on books VCR and DVDs on learning to carve While some were very good I could have saved a lot of money with just a month or two on this site watching and learning. I did not mean to make this a commercial. It is just a really good resource. OH, there is a large selection of member down loads you can print out also.

I have to say I learned more in one of his free beginner videos than I did in two weeks at carving club and reading magazines and books. Worth it if only for a month.
