NO! A tree poops in the WOOD! That beautiful heartwood that we love to expose, wellllllll, I hate to burst your bubble, BUT...............

Heartwood is TREE POOP!

I just thought you should know.

This morning, I stumbled onto this 1966 paper on the subject in a publication of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, Science Magazine.

Just goes to show you -- you should always wash your hands after working on a stick!
And it begs the question: "what are you putting into your mouth when you use a tooth pick?"

Regardless, sure do like heartwood and spalting.
What about the animals that pee on it, yes that is groose, wear gloves when working with wood.
