Our local church is remodeling the main sanctuary and in the process ripping out a lot of the 20 year (??) old carpeting replacing it with bamboo . . . and it is FAB. So for the first time in my 81+ years this week I went dumpster diving and came up with several very nice pieces - after cutting away portions I could not use.
And from that I made some 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" (approx) bamboo coasters and they are FAB. It's without a doubt among the hardest wood I've ever worked with in 30+ years woodworking, but worth the effort.
I gave a set of four to our Senior Pastor this week and told him while in his office he won't have to get up, go look into the sanctuary to see the new flooring.
