I've read about and seen first hand what's going on with many of the elm trees in our area and it's a shame. Keeping that 100% in mind I picked up three sticks one day this week and I think one of them especially is going to make a fine cane for someone some day. It has a built in handle, very crooked but also still very solid top to bottom.
I'm thinking that by sanding away the excess dead bark and outer surfaces making it smooooooooth and then staining a dark walnut followed by 737 coats high gloss polyurethane it'll be a keeper.
Maybe.
Any thoughts?
Thanx
