I LOVE to fish so maybe I'm somewhat prejudiced here . . . but last evening while working on another cane shank I discovered some critter in it's survival mode (I'm guessing) making those marvelous tracks created a fish hook! He's long gone, of course, but I'm going to do my best to preserve this very unique marking.

It's true - I completed Cane #95 Sat morning and before the sun set was working on Canes #96 and #97.

I'm addicted . . . and loving it.

I simply LOVE making these discoveries.

ps - I hope you have a SUPER Sunday

That's a lovely piece there. Just finished one not that long ago. All it needed was a coat of 50/50 BLO/Min spirit mix, a bit of cure time and a clear coat.

1) quoting/copied/pasted info: "Sugar Maple's sap makes it ideal for maple tree tapping."

2) that giant tree is less than a mile from our place and I've picked up probably ten sticks on the ground. The leaves and the sap were the deciding clues for me.

3) I will keep watching, however that may have to wait - 8-12" fluffy stuff to fall from the skies here today.
