As cold as it is here today, if I found that I'd say there was a brass monkey which was missing something. Downside for me is that spring= the return of allergy season.

It should make a fine handle, Valky. Do you plan on smoothing out the scars or leave them as part of the knob's "story"?

I think the scars show it's age and gives it a unique character. Embedded unknown history. If there's any really rough spots or burrs I will remove them though.

Crazy! I received today what was supposed to be the "Mars" knob but it was a totally different knob. I could complain to the seller and request my money back but the truth is this one is workable too! "5 circle knob!"
Am I the only one here that names their sticks? LOL
Besides my children, I've always named my pick-up trucks, my guns and my sticks. Weird I know.

Wow! I received the "Mars" knob today unexpectedly with no extra charge after the seller replaced it with another because he could not find the original sale. So it appears I got two brass knobs for the price of one! 😉
Now that's a true and conscientious seller! (y)
