Hello all....

Wish this could be under better circumstances, but I am finally at the age where a cane is going to be needed on a semi permanent basis....and as stubborn as I am I will probably end up with two (hopefully matching)....as a walker just doesnt appeal to me....yet... tons of upper body strength, just a bad back.... we will see.

I already have found gem on Fleabay, but it was damaged in shipping...so it will need some repair, plus it is a bit tall for me so it will need to be cut down an inch or two anyway. A nice custom Walnut cane with a "very" custom handle. It should be able to be salvaged, if not I will be looking for "cutoffs"....lol...lost all my 40 plus years of cutoff "keepers"....oh well...

I am very sure I will have plenty of questions and will find my way to the correct forum.

I am a retired fourth gen construction worker...unfortunately I lost nearly everything I had...house, cars, tools, this past Xmas, but that is life. Significant health issues other than back....cant really work because of which....long sad story....I know....

Anyway that is my life in a small nutshell.....emphasis on "nut". lol....I do have an odd sense of humor, so if I offend anyone, please dont take it personally...just let me know to "tone it back a bit"...while I know that we all will not agree on everything(wouldnt life be boring?) I hope to learn as much as possible here.

Thanks....

Nathan

Welcome! Lots to learn here and who knows, maybe stick making can become a new income stream and at least it's something to take your mind off your troubles for awhile. As far as strange humor is concerned.. We are, for the most part, a bunch who are perfectly happy being locked in a workshop, getting covered in sawdust, woodchips and varnishes while staring at a piece of wood!
