I joined the Forum just seconds ago. I own a few walking sticks: nothing old or expensive. Am getting more interested in collecting, especially since I love the Sherlock Holmes tales, which are rich with references to walking sticks.

Anyone know where I can get a Penang lawyer?

Welcome to the site Jim! Unless you find one already made some where, you'd have to get your hands on some "Licuala acutifida" and I'm not sure how you do that, not seen any for sale in my neck of the woods!

Maybe I should go with the Cold Steel shillelagh.

I've got two of the Cold Steel -- and they are nice, however, one size fits all! Your better off to make one of your own that fits you!

One thing I dislike about the Cold Steel sticks: they don't come with a rubber tip, and are therefore not suited for walking on city streets.

Unless you are over 6' tall they are too long any how -- just cut them to fit and add the rubber tip!

wouldnt they be heavy and clumsy and lack style
The sticks you make would be far more attractive just as strong mayby the look would say keep away from me i am dangerous?
