I just came across this forum and decided to join. A number of years ago, when I lived in Canada, I made some walking sticks and really enjoyed seeing the results. I moved to Israel and decided to rekindle my interest in walking stick. As a former photographer, I am interested in creating sticks that can be used as monopods. I look forward to learning more from the experienced members here.

Welcome aboard Starbuck. I would think in Canada there would be many of the same hardwoods as In the U.S. I too am interested in what woods are available for staffs in Israel.

You could also try contacting olive or fig growers to see if they have anything with stick making potential which needs to be pruned from their trees. With eucalyptus you always have the danger of koala attack.

And welcome to the forum.
