this is one of my first, I have made 3 so far, this one the knob cracked in a sunburst pattern as it dried so i did an inlay of torquise in the cracks I don't know if you can see it very well
The general rule is a to give a year per inch of thickness for drying. Find a dry cool place to store them while they dry. Plenty of threads here on the subject. Sometimes you can get away with less but the general rule is safer.
The inlay is a good idea as long as the stick has finished drying and is stable.
I love it! I usually use wood glue mixed with the sawdust from the stick but that's awesome. Once saw an idea that I've been thinking about, using melted bronze or copper to fill the cracks. Oh,and welcome!
