Good evening (there) / morning (here) Brass Man! I'm a newbie on the SSF, as well as on this new forum. I'm looking forward to learning here as I do there, about making slingshots and walking sticks. I like the idea of castings for the stick top or cane handle, and look forward to your suggestions and examples.

Hey Brassman. I'm a metallurgist by trade and I've always thought I'd like to get into casting some of my own metal parts. Just never took the time to get started. Looking forward to seeing some of your work and I may want to work a deal with you sometime on a cast handle.

Lewey, I know that a number of people have made works out of wood, and Pete used it to create a mold, and then he cast it in metal.

I have an idea for a cast handle that will allow wood to be added, similar scales on a full tang knife. This would open up a whole new world of possibilities, as far as the woods that could be used. I'll get started on the pattern.
