Now that I've established for certain, via a publication from The University of Tennessee [ http://trace.tennessee.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1080&context=utk_agexfores ] I've been working primarily with the SURVIVING sapling, not the vine itself, I'm going to rename and name these canes J.H.V. Survivor...rather than Japanese Honeysuckle Vine canes.

Slight correction: Further intensive study now confirms the original sapling to be Black Oak. I hope to have the project complete this weekend.

I'm quite (VERY) pleased with the finished product . . . the black oak took the stain and polyurethane so it's almost furniture grade.

This will be another cane my grandkids will fight over (hopefully)
