This is a idea that is growing fast .started in Australia and is now in the uk.

Its all about people jioning together and learning new skills. ant skill from woodwork.woodturning, restorartion, carving ,car maintinence, etc,

It was origanally started for older men , a lot of people dont prepaEr themselves for retirement and cant seem to deal with not going to work.It has a negative effect on there health.

It seems that a lot of people dont take a outside interest with things apart from there work.

It was started in the UK by age concern and has grown rapiIdly getting funding from the lottery fund and other organisations

Quit a few towns now have a shed some quite large and some have full time cordinators /teachers . teaching a wide range of subjects.or just sharing skills as individuals

I have only just heard of them wondering if you had anything like this in the USA.

Have to agree with you its all about sharing skills , but it also introduces you to people in your area .I would love a lathe but space is a problem so if or when i need something turning i turn to a friend who is pretty good on it, i just supply the wood i want.In return i do things for him so its a handy arrangement. Trading skills is very handy it also leads into connections in getting materials as i already have some different types of wood given to me through these connections. I have also been given rams horn and been offered more and hopefully will be getting some water buffalo horn to carve though these connections.

These people have given me some good advice on using the rams horn hwo to bend it and shape it.

But one of the best thingsis that they look at what you made and give a honest view piont its not always what you want to hear but its done in a constructive manner and i value there opion as saying thats nice dosnt help to improve your work, and belive its the most helpful way of improving anything

A honest constructive opioin is the most valuble thing you can get.
