This may have been asked before but can anyone give me an idea of what the raw wood looks like? We have plenty of willow around but I don't know what the fungus looks like or if attacks the trees here. Is it obvious or do you have to know what you're looking for?

All I know is what I've seen on the internet. Type in "diamond willow images". You'll get everything from raw bushes to finished work. My understanding is it's not so much a species of willow as it is a willow that's been attacked by a certain type of fungus.

Nice tip! That helped out a lot. On the downside I'm sure that the fungus has not attacked any of the trees that I have seen.

For the best information on Diamond Willow; go to http://www.sticksite.com. The late Ken Laninga (stickman) created a wonderful website that I have used many times and still do. I work with Diamond Willow often and have learned a tremendous amount from his website. Also Ken has a very powerful and incredible blog that he posted during his battle with cancer. Incredible man......
