This is my first time to put on a hame handle on one of my canes. I used Indonesian wood for the shank with boiled linseed oil and a polyurethane finsh. I'm going to keep this one myself.

Nice job Randy. I like the octagon shafts you do on a lot of your sticks. What method do you use to shape them?
The pieces I start out with is a 2x2 I take them to my daddy and cut them out on his table saw we cut out two sides flat then we cut it at a 45 degree about 4 cuts its hard for me to explain.

Nice cane Randy. I have found one issue with the hames top. They slide over easy. I suggest putting a brass eye screw In the hole in the back of the hames for a strap or piece of cord to hang it up with.
Good idea I might just try that I got some paracord or I'll get some leather boot string and get my Daughter to braid it.

Yes that's brass isn't it? Nice job there Randy love it. If left would it develop a nice patina on it so you wouldn't have to fight hand prints etc?
