Hi,

My name's Mark and I live in Wiltshire, England. I've been dabbling in stick making for the last couple of years as a bit of a hobby. I started by making my own sticks to take beating on a local shoot, from there I've gained an interest in shillelagh style sticks. At the moment I'm working on a beast of a cherry rootball shillelagh and, if I get the time I'll post some pics up. Look forward to speaking to you all and expanding my knowledge on all things "sticky".

Hello, and Welcome,

Just now looking at Google map of Wiltshire. Seems to be mostly farm land. Much like where I live in northern Indiana,US. Looks like I may have more woodlots and forests nearby. Generally I can find more sticks than I can find time to carve. Lots of maple, and beech. Some oak and hickory. Also poplar, sycamore (plane tree), ash, locust.

I think you will find stick making to be a lot of fun.
