Just found this site and you guys might have some helpful hints. I cut down a huge Red Cedar tree and out of all the limbs I found 3 that I thought would make a good walking cane. And they have been good. I can't walk for very long so a walking stick for hikes is not much good for me. Could have got plenty more of them from that cedar tree. I've been asked several times what the wood is and most if not all are surprised. For whatever reason I don't know. But I like my 3 canes. Keep one in my truck, one in my wife's car and one in the house. All handy in case I hobble to either vehicle or search the house for wherever I last used that one. Don't have a photo of any of them unfortunately. I may make a few more from other wood after reading the threads here.
