from Illinois. I've been doing wood working for a long time . . . a lot of different kinds; making clocks, spinning wheels, musical instruments, carving, but lately I've been working on making canes and walking sticks. There appears to be a lot of talent on this website and people willing to share it. Glad to meet you folks.

I have these photos on my computer . . .

Please notice the photo with the straight walnut shaft. I have a Craftsman Router-Crafter. This machine was originally made to use a router to make lathe type wood turnings. It has an indexing head and a sliding router mount. With a little finagling I use it to make octagon cross section shafts that taper.
