Hi everyone. I've been carving for 5 or 6 years now and I have a lot to learn. I carve with both power and knives. Hoping I can pick up some tips from all of you.

I'm a little hesitant to post pic's just yet. But I will eventually.

Hi! Welcome to the best thing on the internet. Don't hesitate to show your work. I'm not a carver myself, I do knob sticks, and I wasn't sure of the "quality" of some of my early work but went ahead anyway. Best choice I ever made. The compliments,tips,kind and helpful answers to my novice questions and the sense of kinship with people who share my passion have repeatedly shown that I made the right decision. Can't wait to see your work!

I shouldny worry about the quality tho i am sure your bringing your self down no need

we all had to make a start somewhere but it will intorduce you to different ideas ,We all have favourite things to carve there isn't a right or wrong and your experience will help , if it works or you so post some we may learn something its just about sharing .

I love rams horn crooks haven't done any yet ,mainly carved items I just like drawing and the ideas but each of us have our own way none of which is right or wrong

I was told once that everyone has their own vision; no carving is good or bad. The only thing you can do wrong is carve with a dull knife.

LilysDad, I have and do carve with a dull knife, not fun. I misplaced my honing wheels when we moved in 2014 and haven't found them yet so I'm trying the power carver. Hope I find them pretty soon.
