This one is coming along nicely. Started it a week or so ago and finished the handle yesterday.
Found it growing on the side of a boulder which had split. This left
a little shelf where just enough dirt had accumulated for it to germinate.

Got some nice color showing from the heartwood plus a few little pips where the roots were. Going to look great with some poly on it.

I have a couple of "root balls" drying out now - things that I have thrown away in the past.
I never imagined that the silk purse could come from them.

I just love seeing a natural wood branch made into something useful yet keeping it's original characteristics. You done good my friend! Thanks for the pics of the progress! It tells the story.
This makes me want to go out and do a "search and find" again.
