I stumbled across this walking the dog one day last year. Thought it would make a nice cane.
No idea what type of wood it is. I just thought it was really cool that it grew naturally into that U shape.
Its dried out now and ready for some sanding, but I haven't quite decided how to shape the hand grip. I'm not sure if its better to leave both sides of the U the way it is or trim down one (or both) sides.
This would be my first cane so some input from the cane experts would be greatly appreciated.
Great find! Keep in mind that "fork" can be used on the bottom for extra stability...I have sold several that way. Also it looks like it/they can be carved as candle sticks?
