Maybe someone here could help me out..I built a stick display rack for my walking sticks from pine today..I stained it with min wax teak color..I think it looks pretty bad..Is there anyway I could paint over that with an acrylic aerosol when it dries?Thank you for your time again......R.Demler.

I have painted over stain. The challenge is making sure that the piece being painted that the stain is THOROUGHLY dry. Pine is difficult to get a stained finish that is not blotchy. Minwax recommends using a pre stain conditioner or their gel stain to minimize the problem. I have used the conditioner with decent results.

I tried something like that, and within 2 weeks, the acrylic was already buckling and cracking. You might have to go with an oil based paint, or perhaps an aerosol like Rustoleum, or an auto body color.
