Pool Cue

2862 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  MJC4
My coffee buddy gave me a broken pool cue, which I've adapted for use as a cane handle. I've installed a solid white maple doll head - yep, that's what they are - to the top for the KNOB and am wondering what kinda wood is normally used for pool cues.

Any cues clues?

<insert groan here>

Thanx

Appears that hard maple is a standard, but I've seen them made from all sorts of exotics, such as blends of purple heart, ebony, etc.

I've searched on line and found MANY hardwoods light vs dark are used in the making of pool cues. Since I'll be giving this one away, I wanted to identify the woods if I could, however, it's really not that important.

Thanx anywho.

Hand brushed Poly coat applied this a.m.

ps - it's going to look smart. Wish I did/was.
That cane is ready to ship - to Wounded Warriors - am waiting for address.
