I fully realize this does not belong here but am hoping the administrators will consider leaving it in place for a few days.

I am an 18+ year prostate cancer survivor and am thankful. Prostate cancer can be - and many times is - a killer. However, the key to survival is a) early detection and b) taking corrective steps when and if needed.

The American Cancer Society - the last time I checked - recommends the simple PSA blood test for every other year for men once they reach 40, then every year past 50 and twice per year after age 60. Family history can change that schedule as was my case, and the discovery and the surgery.

I am posting this today hoping even one person's life will be changed.

A blood test.

How simple is that?

If you would allow me, my 61 yr old son ignored his rising PSA scores and now is Stage 4 - and the cancer has spread to his spine.

He has perhaps a year, at the most 5, to live unless the LORD intervenes.

THUS today's note.

I'm sorry to see that Norson. I'll be praying for him.

I ignored the funny looking little spot on the bottom of my left foot for a year (until it hurt to walk on it) before I had it looked at. It came back positive for melanoma and I was diagnosed at stage 3. That quickly changed to stage 4 when they found it had spread to my lymph nodes.

If you have something you're not sure about, get it checked. Earlier is far better than later. I know from personal experience I'd rather feel foolish about a false alarm as opposed to waiting too long.
