Question on Paracord handle wraps

336 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Sokolva
I was going to put a paracord handle wrap on my first walking stick for my own personal use. As a Search and Rescue volunteer, paracord is very valuable both for survival situations and in the field, and I’d love a way of carrying some on me at all times in the form of my hiking and snake staff.

My question is: do I need to do anything to keep the paracord handle wrap from sliding down the stick? Do I need to carve a groove for it, or drill a hole through the stick and thread it through? Or do they tend to stay where they are wrapped if done correctly?

If you do a firm rap and secure the ends should stay in place. You can also pour boiling water over the rap. this will cause the rap to shrink up and tighten around the stick. I Have used the rap an my sticks for many years and have nevet had one fale.

Yes this video is exactly the one I was going to replicate! Thanks for the tip on the boiling water, I’ll definitely do that. And for the firsthand experience on the paracord trips staying well!

Thank you for the video resource. I used the same technique, boiling a pot of water on my stove and pouring it over the handle. It’s tightened up very nicely!
