Found a couple pieces of redbud saplings. Has anyone used it before for sticks or carving? I can't find a listing for it on the Wood Data Base site.

Also looks like there will be a ton of ash for stickmaking over the next several years as the Emerald Ash Borer makes its way through our forests, what a shame. The state park we stayed at is now infested with EAB and unless the scientific community finds a solution ash trees are going to go the way of the American Elm.

TX Randy, interesting read. The 2 pieces I picked up were small saplings the parks department cut down to clear a trail. I am hoping they will make for good sticks when dry. I prolly ought to seal the ends after reading the article.
