I harvested this one in 2012. They logged and the sapling was pushed at an angle and it then grew straight. I watched it a few years before I dug it up. I still have enough from the shaft to make a good walking stick. I left the bark on this one. I love it. It fits my hand great and has a great feel.

I love working with sassafras, the smell while sanding or carving is wonderful.

Great looking walking stick. Love that style walking with a reverse grip of what you'd walk with it if it were a cane.

I like Sassafrass myself. Seems not to grow at this elevation so I try to collect some everytime I go back to New Jersey.

Nice! We have lots of Sasafras on our place -- it grows like weeds!
