Shilelagh training: pugil sticks?

This sort of training requires not only a safely constructed pugil stick, but also safety gear and many health and concussion related requirements. Do not try this at home without proper equipment, training, and supervision, similar to other forms of martial arts stick fighting.

If additional information is requested, I have some materials available that I could post.

I have not used one of those sense MCRD in 1964. It was fun when I was young and bounced better.

You beat me by two years. MCRD San Diego 1966. After some initial bouts, they always paired me with another squad leader. Neither of us could clearly win. In hand to hand demo he threw two blackbelt DI's off the demo stage, and later gave me three stitches with a head butt. We departed good friends. He lives in WI.

After ITR, I went to six month 2533 school, 5th Recon Bn. at Pendleton for six+ months, then Nam with 1st ANGLICO (nobody knew what that was). Supported the Korean Marines for a month in western Binh Son Province, then up to the Hoi An area just in time for the '68 Tet offensive. We won the war then, as you know, but Walter Cronkite, McNamara, Johnson, and the public decided that we should throw in the towel instead of finishing them off.
