Many of us use basswood when for carving toppers. I saw this on another carving site thought some of you would fined it helpful too. I am going to give it a try on my next basswood project. There is no sound.

tempted to try this method on the mallard

Looked into the idea of using oil paint mixed with boiled linaseed oil. going to try it out seen it on other sites . seems to stain the wood rather than cover it . a nice idea for better quality finish mayby for woods with a nice grain
