Came across this stick based on the book of kells made by Lyn Rees owned by Colin Cunlif. he said it took 150 hours to make not surprised there must have been a lot of work using the illuminated script the carvings where based on. It was a Facebook site No idea of its age but looks like it has some age to it. But its nicely executed

I like the lay out and design and the high light in blue really helps it stand out. I would love to know the story he was telling in the stick. If there was one. It has been quite a few years sense I carved a entire shank. It can be long term commitment. About 25 years ago I belong to a club that did a club story stick We had 12 members. We had a 72 inch shank and each member 5 inch to carve something that told something about his or hers life .Ended up a great looking stick. Sadly it was lost in a house fire a few years after it was completed. We never did another one.

considering the book was produced about 1220 years its illustration are extremly good worth a look at
