We had this tree fall down and I started to cut it up for firewood until I saw the pattern in the wood and decided to save a few hunks for working with later. I've Anchor Sealed the ends and set them aside to cure. Yet another to be continued story!!

That is pretty! I'll bet that would make a beautiful bowl!
Just what I was thinking! The hard part for me is the waiting for the wood to cure. Some turners don't wait and turn it green, but I would rather not go through all the work and then have it crack -- so I'll wait.

Very nice! I'll bet if you can keep it from splitting it will saw up into some nice looking wood.

Yes--I hope so! I look forward to working with it. I'm not even sure what kind of wood it is -- when the leaves come back on, I am going to check out it's brothers and sisters to see if I can identify it. It is possibly ash, but I'm not sure.
