Scored this, what I believe to be, Victorian era presentation cane at the local thrift store yesterday. Gold cap, ebony cane. Now the question is, is it gold plated, gold fill, 14K? Cap shows wear, but I don't see a base metal coming through. Does have slight dent/damage on one side of the cap.

Anybody know anything much about canes? I don't, but knew I should buy it...

That's a really pretty stick. Nice find.

Your best bet would be to take it to a good jeweler -think older independent jeweler that does repairs, not a a chain store in a mall -and ask them if they can tell you what it's made of.
