Brother, you type worse than I do.

Carving a likeness of Uncle Jerry would most likely be a lot of labor. A line work logo, like a steal face, or a bear, a terrapin, a scarab, not to hard. Could even be burnt, and tinted.

Me: Auditorium, Chicago, '71.

An image like this might work.

I'm not a carver but this is a lot simpler than most Grateful Dead images I've seen. Other things to consider might be a dancing bear topper or maybe Jerry's head.

Another thought would be to buy a Grateful Dead button with an image you like and have it cast into the top of a cane. I took a look and there are a lot of choices.

Something to keep in mind is how much support do you need from your cane? That will affect handle style choices.

I'm not giving up yet, but carving is something that I'm not remotely able to do.

However, an easy fix would be to find an appropriate lapel or hat pin online, and embed that. For circular pins, I simply drill a hole where I've marked the usual pin on the back of a lapel pin, shove the pin down to the wood, draw a pencil line around it, find the center of that circle, and then use a forstner bit to sink in the pin. I like Woodcraft's structural epoxy to secure pins, and I add a very thin coat on top of pins as added protection against scratching.

Ok everyone
Yes I am the original person who posted about needing the grateful dead walking cane and I am the most horrible Taiper in the entire world even when I dictate which is what I'm doing now. I'm sorry I haven't followed up on not only am I going through physical challenges but I have been displaced from my home for about 2 1/2 years now due to a roof week toxic mold and I have an autistic son so my hands are pretty full on top of my terminal illness, lol, although this all here is not a joke I am being serious

I try to reach Shawn Cipa. Via telephone and email at least a half a dozen times with no response over the past several years although I have not tried in the past let's say eight or 10 months...so I'm just wondering am I didn't even realize that I was on this forum that's how overwhelmed I am does anybody have any new ideas it is anybody know anybody now that can make him a Grateful Dead cane for me. I would welcome any ideas and if someone wants to call me I do not mind giving my number at 704-352-5513 and my name is Jody thanks a lot everybody
