I took this picture here in my recliner last Jan - in the dead of winter - and although I did my best to contain all the wood chips inside a blanket or towel stretched across my lap some of them eventually fell onto the floor around my chair.

Not good - when momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy, etc.

Stay tuned . . .

I presently have 8 or 10 sticks - potential cane shanks - in my Man Cave, with another six (maple) laying in the sun/rain/snow to let Momma Nature do her thing on them.

So I've decided to do my best to knock off all the hard-to-remove bark NOW if I can and do hand sanding - no chisel work - inside this fall/winter season.

And here's the first two - got them done early yesterday a.m. - black locust closest to camera and red maple.

Prediction: Both of those are going to be SPECK-TACK-YOU-LUR some sweet day.
