I dont know if many peolpe here use a wood burning tool,but you can get some nice effects whish will enhance your designs,

I oftern use burning to textuer my carvings and aslo to mark out different sections for carving wild fowl feathers before using the rotary tool

Have anyone got any photos of your work would be interested to see some on your staffs

this is a example of something i did for my daughter.its head is slightly burnt with the beek stained with ink then varnished set on a hazel saft with a nickel silver collar and glass eyes

Very nice! I've not done any wood burning yet, but I've been thinking about doing a little.

Depends on what you want to spend and the level of detail you want to achieve.

You can do basic shapes and coloration with one of these

Or high level detail with one of these;
