some off cuts of hazel I make into whistles its only a few mins job and the grandchildren love it. Mind you I have learnt not to give them till they go.

Some of the fancy ones I carve into ducks pigs and even a wood spirit. yes the only wood spirit I carved its such a quick job to do and just uses waste wood.

I have not made a whistle I will have to do that. I have made some wooden flutes. This one is made of popular . It is 20 inches long. They are fun to make. The problem is I can not carry a tune across a room. Have to get the wife to tell me when I have sized the hole for the right for each notes.

i don't measure it I just guess everything when i making.it. .I just put the tape measure in for a guide . when I cut the hole in it I guess the angle of cut just cut the dowel in about half but a little longer than I want put the half dowel in about level with a right angle cut that way you can adjust where it should be for the sound just blow it adjust it till your happy with the sound you will need to adjust it depending how hard you blow it. mark it with a pencil cut and glue it.

the depth of cut is nearly to the end of the whistle.

they only take a few mins. to make after all its only waste wood/
